FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1). Can I add onto my full log home in the future?
Yes, it is as easy as a standard frame constructed home.
2). How long does it take to build a Log Home?
It takes approximately the same amount of time as a standard home. It takes about:
3-4 months to build a 1,400 - 1,800 square foot home
5-6 months for a 1,800 - 2,100 square foot home
6-9 months for a 2,200 - 3,200 square foot home
3). How energy efficient are Log Homes?
Compared to a conventional wood stud wall (3 1/2 inches of insulation, sheathing, and wallboard, for a total of about R-14) the log wall is apparently a far better insulation system. How a log building interacts with its surroundings depends greatly on the climate. Because of the log's heat storage capability, its large mass may result in better overall energy efficiency in some climates than in others.
4). What is the R-Value of your log homes?
Our log homes generally have an R-42 rating for insulating value
5). Can I custom design my own log home?
Yes. We can build a custom log home to virtually any set of plans.
6). Will I be in greater danger of fire in a log home as opposed to a regular home?
No. This is a common misconception. Consider this: If you threw a 2X4 and an 8 in. log on a fire, which one would be there after an hour? The same is true for a log home. It takes much longer for the log wall or heavy-timber rafter system to catch fire, and also takes more time for them to completely burn.
7). What kind of maintenance will my log home require?
No different than any other home. You are going to have maintenance & upkeep that needs to be done. How often you may need to power wash & re-seal your home will depend on the sun light exposure. More exposure to wind & sun will need more attention, that's why it is important to have porches on your home. Porches help cut down on the sun exposure. Also helps to use quality materials, the better quality materials will increase longevity & durability.
